Internal alteration and a new detached double garage and work space. – Warley – GREEN BELT


To construct a double garage with work room and create open plan living space within the existing envelope.  The internal alterations were designed to maximise space, with the introduction of a large skylight to bring a bright airy feel to the kitchen/living space.  The opportunity was taken to upgrade some areas of insulation and install a log burner as a feature

Green Belt

 The Planning Authority took the view that a permitted development approach was taken so it was necessary to work within height and size restrictions.  The Client required a timber and oak solution for the cladding and this was incorporated within a modern construction method.  The final design solution met the Client’s requirement for space and was carefully fitted into the restrictions of the legislation.  To meet the restriction on height the design incorporated an extended slope to the roof.  By producing 3D visualisations showing the street scene and the building integrating into it, it was possible to support the applications and allow the Client to view the project as conceived.

Final Thoughts

This completed project has been hugely successful for the clients in providing the open plan living style they asked for and providing a two car garage and a superb hobby/work room.  The external landscaping has complemented the project producing a holistic design solution.
